Dioctyl Phthalate (DOP)

邻苯二甲酸二辛酯-DOP
  • Dioctyl Phthalate (DOP) is a widely used general-purpose plasticizer with excellent compatibility, high plasticizing efficiency, and low volatility. It plays an important role in industries such as plastics, rubber, and coatings. The following is a comprehensive introduction with moderate detail.

    Physical Properties

Appearance and Odor: At room temperature, it is a colorless, transparent oily liquid with almost no peculiar odor.

Key Parameters: Boiling point approximately 385, melting point -55, density at 20approximately 0.985 g/cm³, viscosity (20) approximately 81 mPas, with moderate fluidity.

Solubility and Compatibility: Insoluble in water (solubility 0.01 g/100mL at 20), readily soluble in most organic solvents such as ethanol, ether, benzene, toluene, and acetone. It has excellent compatibility with resins like polyvinyl chloride (PVC), nitrocellulose, and polystyrene.

Volatility: Extremely low volatility, almost non-volatile at room temperature, which can effectively maintain the long-term performance stability of products.

Dioctyl Phthalate is the most commonly used general-purpose plasticizer. It is mainly applied in the processing of polyvinyl chloride (PVC) products, such as films, cable materials, pipes, sheets, artificial leather, toys, and medical devices. It can significantly improve the flexibility, processing fluidity, and cold resistance of PVC products. Meanwhile, it is also widely used in rubber, coatings, adhesives, nitrocellulose and other products as a plasticizer or softener to improve product performance.
